About the School Swimming Program

The School Swimming and Water Safety Program is a learn to swim program that develops water confidence and provides students with basic skills in water safety and survival. The Program provides opportunities for students in Years 2 to 6 to attend daily lessons of 45 minutes over 10 consecutive days. Opportunities are also provided for students enrolled in Schools for Specific Purposes and Intensive English Centres.

Schools in metropolitan Sydney and large rural centres will operate in a centrally coordinated program.

Schools in smaller and isolated communities will run in a school based organisational model.
